Oh and there were the haters, and the arguments...and the general uproar that follows a man of such stature sliding low in the ranks to marry.

And the wedding dressed tables stood empty, on a day that was crisp with cold winter sun. But they smiled at each other across the strong wooden backs.

Her crisp white linen shift glinted in the reflections of knives, softening their blades. And as their eyes met through the clear empty air of the room, they truly were the only people in the world.

She wondered that he didn’t feel alone and bitter. But his hand aptly placed in the small of her back as they waltzed to the very first dance gave her hope.
