Description

I haven't done one of these for a while!
This is a technique I often try, but have rarely been able to capture the dog standing still! I think on this one I managed to burn my hand again as well - the pain for Photography! So, I held a clear (fairly large) marble up to the dog and obviously, the picture you see here shone through.

The only manipulation done was to turn the outer bits black and white. :) Shame about my hand looking deformed though! More marble works here:

Before I read the description, I thought to myself "surely this is something done in Photoshop". To my surprise I read the description and see that you in fact used very little manipulation. It's a great shot! First thing I notice is the marble in the centre, then the dog stood there in the middle of the piece.

I'd have to say the most stunning part of this photograph is the way it looks perfectly like a snow globe, as if what I see inside the marble has physically been captured in there which proves effective, it's like staring into a world.

The colours are so bright and beautiful too, the vivid greens and floral feel of the gardens add to the impact of the image. There couldn't have been a better animal to be the subject of this photograph either, the dog's shiny coat although black makes it feel warmer in a sense too.

In my year and a half of browsing deviantART, I haven't encountered a similar image, I give it a perfect score for originality, what a fantastic idea this is.

Honestly, there's not much I would change about this photograph, I can't think of something major that you could do to this to improve it more, so I apologise for that. What I can suggest though is that you make the marble slightly lower down. Not much, I know.
