The Face Of Grief

Description

The bodies of two soldiers from Plymouth and Devon were brought back today to RAF Lyneham in Wotton Bassett. The family stand with flowers ready for when the hearse's go past. Whilst I watched the women comforting each other and the men bravely standing tall, I felt a deep sense of compassion and also regret for the lost lives. For us all standing there today, there was barely a touch of burden. For the family and friends on the opposite side of the road, the burden had just begun. We could walk away, and come back next week. For them today was the here and now. This was it, and they'd never get back what they had lost. This really did touch me. I think that this might have been a Mother, I will know more when the news articles are up.

Please note: I was amongst many photographers today as this was a public event, and none of my pictures were taken intrusively to the family.

wow, that's what I call great shot.
I find it very difficult to point the camera to people in this kind of situation... You know, being afraid of being disrespectful...
Gratz!
