The other week, a piece of my writing was selected for a Daily Literature Deviation. If you're curious you can see the article here. "Replace Fear of the Unknown with Curiosity..."
As the year crawls into the final quarter - lots of challenges and daily photo tasks and so on begin to conclude. I have personally been challenging myself with the 365 Photography challenge - a photo a day for a whole year. It has been tricky to say the least, especially as I set myself a high standard of capturing more than one Photo a day - but also rewarding. Setting yourself a challenge, whether it's following the 52 week photography challenges that are out there, or doing a themed challenge such as 365 breakfasts - is a great way of expanding on your portfolio. Whilst it sometimes means that you struggle to find anything interesting to photograph or share, on the days that you do, you're one step closer to building another aspect of your portfolio.

The name I go under is Kiwi. The style of art I produce is usually
labeled as street art. I produce canvases using spraypaint and stencils
cut out of card/paper, also hand drawn stickers for trade/placement on

What is it that attracts you to Traditional Art?

My answer is twofold to that one. Firstly the joy of creating something physical and real that can be held and admired from multiple angles. Secondly my complete ineptitude when it comes to image manipulation software

I don't know about you, but Light Painting has to be really unique and awesome in order to impress me. So when I stumbled across the work of Darren Pearson aka Darren Twin - I was astounded at the creativity and simple methods used to create his conceptual photographic pieces. Darren creates LED pictures of Skeletons Skateboarding, dancing and living - exploring what the Mail Online has termed as the bare bones of our daily lives. And it really is precisely that. Darren takes the ordinary, the mundane and the normal of everyday life and lights it up by night by painting bones. Check it out for yourself. That prompted me to go searching for some of my favourite light painted pieces here

Darkroom Exposed: AmbrotypesDarkroom Exposed is a series of articles highlighting talented deviants, noteworthy art and helpful information all about the Photography > Darkroom gallery on dA.
This issue features ambrotypes, which are positive images created on a sheet of glass using the wet-plate collodion process. They are also known as collodion positives. You can find out more about ambrotypes here.

The Best 'Captured' Pumpkin

We felt that as well as deserving Third Place, *LureofSalvage's pumpkin also deserved to be the best captured winner. Not only did they get creative with their setting, but they also fit the bill of Still Life Photography almost spot on! Well done!

The Most Creative Dish

By far the clear winner for this category was ~melijan's Oreo Pumpkin Tarts. Whilst the idea sounds quite disgusting, ~melijan made it and captured it wonderfully to make a tasty looking still life photography treat.

This was a beautiful carving and whilst there were many in the gallery, including an awesome pentax camera, we felt that ~khiralfaythily's carving was smooth, precise and wonderfully captured to show it off at its best.

Congratulations to everyone who entered, all those who got creative and snapped their pumpkins and huge thanks to all the judges for carefully and precisely going through all the entries. It took a lot of time due to how awesome they all were - but hopefully you'll enjoy the results just as much as we do!
