Celebrating Diversity #2

Sat Sep 22, 2012, 2:49 PM
Welcome to the 2nd edition of Celebrating Diversity! This series of articles aims to bring you outside of your comfort zone in terms of Art and showcase from a wider range of galleries to embrace the diverse nature of the submissions to deviantART. Not only are we stepping you outside your normal 'go to' galleries - but we as the writers of this fantastic series, are visiting places that we wouldn't normally go to as well.

As humans , we are all different. We have so many types of all sorts of things in the world such as cars, jobs, flavours of crisps, hair colours and so on - as Charles De Gualle once said, " How can you govern a country that has 246 different types of cheese?" It's a challenge to embrace so many things, but one that we should try hard to accept.

Songbirds"Songbirds"

In the summer I grow rather fond

Of watching the swans hover over sea

And often wonder what it would be

Like if they could be like me.

Rather, I wonder if I could grow wings

And soar above the stores and malls

Gliding between buildings

And downtown city hall.

To be like a bird

To have such freedom

Does that sound absurd

To fly towards a kingdom?

I'd fly south for the winter

Avoiding the cold in the city

Because snow stings like splinters

Leaving marks not very pretty.

I'd leave colors in the sky

And into the burning sun

But not before I die

Or not to be outdone

I'd perform circles in the air

Spreading my wing

Through a gap in the fenceThrough a gap in the fence
they saw each other.

Drawings on the walls
for messages of love.

Images don't matter anymore
as words are the only thing
that can travel
through that gap in the fence.

Whispers of love
and no one else cares.

Still they have not seen each other
through the small gap in the fence,

But of course
all good things must end.

The gap was closed
and their love was lost.

As time erases
their love was lost
and the lovers who met
through a gap in the fence
never got to whisper
their sweet nothings to each other
through a gap in the fence again.

FaithI love your belief in God.

Not because it matches mine.

Because it makes you even more beautiful to me.

You are the dream I always wanted, but never had.

(God likes to surprise me. Well, consider me surprised.)

It makes me want to sleep every single night by your side.

I want to wrap my prayers around you.

I want to press my lips to the segments of your body.

If you asked, I would rest my head besides yours

and dream your nightmares for you.

(You shudder in your sleep. I don't think you know.)

In faith, I'll be your dreamcatcher.
In dreams, let me wis
