Protecting work is a huge deal for some people, and not for others. It depends entirely on your outlook - how you view your work and indeed whether or not there needs to be some constrictions on it due to the content being a child, or family member. But how do we protect our work properly from art theft and wrongful use? The simple answer is you can't provide for every eventuality. What Is ISO?
ISO within traditional photography, was an indication of how sensitive a film was to light. Within digital photography it measures the sensitivity of the image sensor. Basically, the lower the number then the less your camera is sensitive to light. Higher ISO numbers are generally used in dark situations to get faster shutter speeds but this can often mean that your shots are noisier. ISO 100 is the most widely used and gives crisp shots with little to no grain. Shooting in automatic means that the camera will select the appropriate ISO for the situations that you are facing, and work out the rest for you to reduce noise as much possible. I recently read an article on Reddit that explored the best way to photography Christmas lights and it raised some interesting points. When you take a Photograph, the camera will often over-compensate with the colours that it's trying to capture and objects that look fairly white to the naked eye don't appear so in the photo that you've taken. White Balance aims to override that. But just setting your camera to Auto White Balance and hoping for the best is not good enough...

Hi =moria330, filters are a good way of diversifying your photographic opportunities without spending a great deal of money (though, granted, many of the better quality filters can get to be relatively expensive).
In film photography, filters were used a lot more extensively then they are today thanks to the nature of the medium.
For example colour filters were used for white balance purposes on colour films that were balanced for different light types, so, you could shoot artificial light balanced film under daylight if you had a filter that corrected for it.

Conceptual Photography – What’s it all about?!

Conceptual Photography is sometimes a hard thing to define. However once you’ve got the hang of what is and isn’t conceptual you will find yourself seeing and creating concepts out of everyday life just like that. I’m determined to help make that happen!


Conceptual is about trying to recreate your fears, dreams, thoughts and ideas in an image. More often than not a Conceptual shot is set up. It is carefully processed and manipulated in set up and in-camera to convey the concept. However from time to time – as I am more frequently finding – you will notice you stumble upon Conceptual shots completely by accident.
Sometimes those are the best kind!

If it’s conceptual it will make you think twice, you may see a double meaning, you will be astounded by the thought process that’s gone into something. You. Will. Be. Amazed.


This piece is the epitome of seasons, crossing seamlessly between the four to illustrate some beautiful concepts. The others in the series are also fantastic examples of conceptual work.


As well as making me smile, everytime I see this piece floating around the most popular pages, I am once again amazed at the fantastic idea. As well as being cute it’s pretty genius too!


Conceptual Art is widely explored with concepts of War, Love, Hate, Image and Music. `im-not-sana has created here a wonderful concept using the simple notion of music. This applies also to `ScENeYmE’s inspirational work below.



Conceptual Art is not about recreating what has already been done but instead working out how you can do it better/differently/stranger (delete as applicable). Nothing is unachievable if you put your mind to it, and what a great place to start with Conceptual Photography.
