Project Educate: Using a Tripod for APNNature Photography and Tripods
`trevg is the Community Volunteer for Animals, Plants and Nature Photography. He has kindly put together this fantastic article on using a tripod to obtain nature photography - there are some excellent tips included!
Camera shake ruins millions of photos every year. Using a tripod is one step we can all take to reverse this problem. When hand-holding your rig for macro or super-telephoto work, the slightest movement will undoubtedly blur your image and/or completely change your composition. Using a tripod to lock your camera in place can help you avoid the heartache brought on by this rapidly growing epidemic. Be part of the solution and buy a tripod today!
Though many of us own a tripod, we don't always use it. There are many reasons to forgo your trusty three-legged friend. Tripods can be heavy and unwieldy

Project Educate: Commercial Overview Commercial Photography
It's important to remember that there is a Fashion sub-category of People and Portraits as well so if your fashion work is not commercial you can head over there and categorize it there.
For all those things that don't-really-fit-elsewhere. Whilst I believe that categorizing work as misc is often a product of laziness - the commercial gallery is a fine example of where the category is definitely needed to cover all those odd bits and pieces.
For those things you do for companies, to sell, to advertise - commissions - that sort of thing. They all belong in here
Pasta Hotline actually illustrates services perfectly. It was created for a restaurant to advertise their home delivery service. Services
Celebrating Diversity #2Welcome to the 2nd edition of Celebrating Diversity! This series of articles aims to bring you outside of your comfort zone in terms of Art and showcase from a wider range of galleries to embrace the diverse nature of the submissions to deviantART. Not only are we stepping you outside your normal 'go to' galleries - but we as the writers of this fantastic series, are visiting places that we wouldn't normally go to as well.
As humans , we are all different. We have so many types of all sorts of things in the world such as cars, jobs, flavours of crisps, hair colours and so on - as Charles De Gualle once said, " How can you govern a country that has 246 different types of cheese?" It's a challenge to embrace so many things, but one that we should try hard to accept.
Project Educate: Conceptual Photography Conceptual Photography
Conceptual is a Photography genre where the artist spends time to make up and construct an idea. Some conceptual shots are taken by pure fluke but for the most part they are created carefully and strategically - deliberately. There are many ways of achieving conceptual pieces without the use of after - manipulation. Man Ray was a very famous Conceptual Artist of his time and so was Eugene Atget. Many try and carry out tribute pieces in memory of Man Ray...
Conceptual can often be blurred with Surreal Photography and actual the line between the two is crossed many times...
~BlackJack0919 is a fantastic Conceptual Photographer with a gallery that spans all kinds of wonderful ideas and concepts.

International Women's Day – Typo FeatureFemale artists have always had a hard stand in a world dominated by men. Throughout the centuries, maybe even millenia, women have always been artists. However they very often did not get the deserved attention and have been struggling with times in which it was even forbidden for them to study arts. But there is no real reason as to why a women can't be an artist as good as a man. The reason, that the majority of fine artists seems to be male, lies much deeper in society and so-called-tradition, than in the fact that women cannot create art.
Here are some great historic female artists for you to check out:
Hildegard of Bingen (Germany, *1098 1179, Medieval)Artemisia Gentileschi (Italy, *1593 1652, Baroque)Suzanne Valadon (France, *1865 193

Female Fan Artists on dA - Part IToday’s International Women’s Day, but what does it mean?
“Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.” – http://www.internationalwomensday.com/.
To celebrate this day, I’m featuring female fan artists from all over deviantART. Many thanks to those who responded to my request for suggestions, you’re great and without your input this community wouldn’t be so amazing. However, since I received so many suggestions, I’ll be splitting the feature in 4 different articles
International Women's Day: Female Focused Vector What is International Women's Day?
The following has been quoted from the InternationalWomensDay.com:
"International Women's Day has been observed since in the early 1900's, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.
The new millennium has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women's and society's thoughts about women's equality and emancipation. Many from a younger generation feel that 'all the battles have been won for women' while many feminists from the 1970's know only too well the longevity and ingrained complexity of patriarchy. With more women in the boardroom, greater equality in legislative rights, and an increased critical mass of women's visibility as impressive role models in every aspect of life, one could think

An introduction to the Urban & Rural Photography gallery
Hi there and welcome to the Project Educate week for Architecture and Urban & Rural Photography!
