I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Life, Goes on

I haven't written anything remotely personal or non-art related, and I'm sure I'll end up mentioning art somewhere in here, but for now I'm all set to ramble about life in general. In the UK Summer is upon us, with it the Olympics have arrived although it looks like our Summer is already over (rain and thunder setting in today). The Olympics is exciting and the opening ceremony was absolutely beautiful despite my mis-givings (along with most of the countries) that it would be terrible. It wasn't. I'm proud that my country has had a turn to show off what we're about - and we did it well, I think!

I have spent the weekend with ~TouchedD - I mention him here and there, and he does a lot of my design work having made my website and designing the headers for my various deviantART articles. But above all that, he means everything to me and we've been friends for some years now. I introduced him to deviantART a while back and so our friendship has continued across many realms of the internet. Suffice to say, our friendship has only grown stronger and materialised into something even more special as time has gone on, culminating in this weekend and being able to spend some time together. Thus I now share with you the apocalpytic place we were in this afternoon!

It's not even August yet, but I'm preparing for September and the craziness that comes with signing up for two years of university at once. I'll be juggling assignment deadlines and exam dates until June next year as of September and October which will be an interesting test of whether or not I can maintain my grades! It's exciting though, another year closer to finishing my degree.

The rest of the Summer brings for me a few more photography jobs, lots of university reading and the odd summer read on the Kindle interspersed with exploring the local countryside and ensuring that Buddy is equipped for the sunshine...

Summer started? Must have blinked! The Ceremony was amazing, really was quite something! I loved the NHS/GOSH Bit, was nice of him to do that and show that it should stay!
