Best of BritishWe may not get many points in The Eurovision Song Contest, we might not understand ambiguous sense of humours, perhaps we don't even get why Europeans have to reserve sunbeds with towels when they're on holiday - but we know how to throw a damn good party for our Queen of Sixty Years. Without further ado I give you...

"If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera"
- Lewis Hine
This week I happened across a Photographer who shoots the economy - currently in the UK. If you ever wondered what Economy looks like - and what the recession looks like - in the Photographic sense then wonder no more. Simon Robert's has it captured. What really struck me though, aside from the complete normality and sometimes mundane life that made the photographs, was the comments on the Article that I read about Simon. The BBC Wrote about him yesterday and nearly all the comments were from people advocating boredom. The Irony is that Simon Robert's had, in full colour, photographed our lives. And the general consensus was that it was dull and unimaginative. How very English we are.

Culinary Creations: Still Life Photography Contest
Still Life Food Photography Contest
Still life photography usually involves a set up - planning and careful execution of a shot. Food photography in particular takes a lot of preparation and the time to make a dish or an item of food aesthetically pleasing. So I thought it was about time we had a contest involving all elements! Your challenge is to create a brand shiny new Still Life Photography piece that features Food. Now the catch is you must be creative with the food. Entries will be considered carefully and if you are taking photos of food that someone else has made, then you need to step up the mark and make it as unique as possible. If you made the creation yourself, give us a brief idea in the description of how. Utilize the descriptions of your artwork to tell us about your photography!

“Photography deals exquisitely with appearances, but nothing is what it appears to be.” - Duane Michals
Still Life is the theme of this weeks article given that it's Still Life Week over at projecteducate! I'm living and breathing still life works right now, and actually it's quite nice. I've discovered some fantastic talent on deviantART, conducted some awesome interviews and started up a group with the wonderful claremanson If you want a sneak peek head over to Still-Life-Stills But really the whole definition and ideal of Still Life has eluded me for quite some time and was something I deliberately avoided because I didn't believe in it. If you take an image, you have stilled life. By rights this means that everything out there is Still Life photography. Even when you're capturing movement, you're stilling it for just a few seconds. So why then, do we hav

Project Educate Continues! Project Educate Continues!!!
projecteducate is a group and all updates from individuals during their weeks listed below will be posted over there! So be sure to join or watch for the full updates! If you want to partake in Community Week by writing an article then just note the group with your ideas!
How it Works
projecteducate started with purely CV run weeks. Those were weeks focusing on a specific art form brought to you by your lovely Community Volunteers. As well as these epic seven days of awesome, we've now introduced two more themes which run on a bi-monthly basis. Those are Community Weeks, which include articles from members of the dA community - and Artist Toolbox Weeks which include a mixture of articles focusing purely on the 'tools' of the trade. If you're interested in either please note projecteducate!

Nine TimesI saw him nine times.
The first time we were both sitting in the room together, getting ready to take the math test that would determine our placement. I was scatterbrained and throwing things around, trying to find the pencils that I had known I would need but had still just tossed in my purse. He was lounging backwards in his chair, looking for all the world as though he didn’t have a single care in the world, including the upcoming test. It annoyed me, that I was frantic and ready to scream, while someone else could be that relaxed.
I tested out of the class.
I don’t know if he did.
The second time I saw him, it was a few months after I arrived on campus. He was the one rushing and frantic this time, running across the square. He was probably late for class, though I had no way of knowing for sure. I was already lost in my own thoughts and ideas, deciding on my major and convincing people that yes, this is what I really want to do with my life. If they weren
