Celebrating Diversity #2Welcome to the 2nd edition of Celebrating Diversity! This series of articles aims to bring you outside of your comfort zone in terms of Art and showcase from a wider range of galleries to embrace the diverse nature of the submissions to deviantART. Not only are we stepping you outside your normal 'go to' galleries - but we as the writers of this fantastic series, are visiting places that we wouldn't normally go to as well.As humans , we are all different. We have so many types of all sorts of things in the world such as cars, jobs, flavours of crisps, hair colours and so on - as Charles De Gualle once said, " How can you govern a country that has 246 different types of cheese?" It's a challenge to embrace so many things, but one that we should try hard to accept.

People and Portraits Exposed #4 When to use the Miscellaneous People & Portraits Gallery This week we've put together an article that explores when to use the miscellaneous category within the People & Portraits Gallery . It's a tricky topic, but one that can quite easily be defined in many ways. Here we've got some examples that will hopefully help you understand what does fit in the miscellaneous portraiture gallery. This piece by ^IsacGoulart is a classic example of when it might be correct to use the miscellaneous category. This work could quite easily fit into a sky scape gallery or indeed water scapes within Animals, Plants and Nature. However in this case, the person in the shot is important and it's what makes this portraiture as well as anything else. But when looking at the sub-categories within the People & Portraits Gallery, there isn't really anything that it completely fits with.:bigthumb313557927
Photography Weekly: Edition Thirty SixPhotography Weekly Header created by ~TouchedD"Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and others have greatness thrust upon them.”-William ShakespeareBasking in the glory of finally getting recognised for your hard efforts and photographic skill is pretty awesome and at the start of this week I took the opportunity to enjoy *Fuzzypiggy's after he got published in a UK Photography Magazine. It's really nice when something like that happens and the knowledge that across the country - and because of deviantART and other networks - across the world, people are looking at your work. And if you're me, smiling! I once stumbled across *lauren-rabbit's work in Black and White Photography Magazine and was truly proud that somebody I had found here on deviantART was here in my mag! So have you been published? Has your work received any recognition that makes you proud? What are your tips to getting out there and having your work showcased?
Urban Exploration #5 Urban Exploration: The Motives? Back in November, Bradley Garrett discussed the motives and politics behind urban exploration at a talk in Brighton. The article afterwards opened up my eyes when I read it, whilst Bradley's views are strong and many disagree with them - he does have an underlying point. "We have a right to explore public infrastructure. Anything funded or maintained (or not maintained) by tax money belongs to us and we should be able to use it as we like as long as we don't permanently damage it or cause harm to the citizen body." What are your thoughts on the legalities and permissions of Urban Exploration? Do you agree or disagree with Bradley? Have you been 'caught out' Urban exploring in the past? Or have you stumbled across an explorer...? Read more here. This Weeks Features :bigthumb3523823
Darkroom Exposed: Digital OverlaysDarkroom Exposed is a series of articles highlighting talented deviants, noteworthy art and helpful information all about the Photography > Darkroom gallery on dA.This issue features digital overlays, which are created by layering two or more images (including but not limited to texture and colour layers) to create a final image, mimicking the effect of exposing photographic paper to two or more negatives and/or filters during printing. This differs from photomanipulations, where elements of numerous images are separately extracted and combined to make a final image.
