Long a staple food in France, there is actually some debate over where the Croissant originated from. The Kipferl, from Austria, was said to be the first real version of what is commonly known now as a Croissant. The popular story is that it was created in Hungary...so who really knows! Some like them hot, some like them cold - some like them with jam and some like them with random things like cheese and ham!
