Urbex #18Environmental Graffit has some great examples of abandoned churches. As does deviantART! Churches can be surrealistic places whether they are abandoned or not and indeed in some of the villages surrounding the area where I live in the UK there are some fantastically creepy churches that nobody ever seems to go in anymore.. So whether you visit a church regularly or not, enjoy the forgotten churches showcased below...

Celebrating Diversity #27The idea behind the Celebrating Diversity Project is to post an article with deviations outside of my area of expertise here on deviantART. Therefore I decided to browse away from Photography, and venture into areas that I know little about!
I strongly encourage you to step out of your zone of comfort and take the time to discover or re-discover other types of art. The world is full of wonder and beauty, we just need to take the time and open our minds to see even more of it - embrace the diversity of it!

Celebrating Diversity #31Once again I'm celebrating diversity! Last month I ventured into the Artisan Crafts gallery to find some pretty epic pieces of work. This month I'm wandering into Literature - Prose. The idea behind this series of Articles is for us to step outside of our comfort zones, venture into places we usually ignore because we either don't have the time - or we don't understand them. For me, Literature is a great solace, and I too often forget to wander through the literature gallery here on deviantART. Let's rectify that right now...

Here's a bit of random info - the worlds tallest cake was 108 feet tall and weighed in at 20 tons. Nom. The oldest cake in the world is 2 pieces from the wedding cake of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert dated 1840 (yuck!) And finally the most expensive cake ever baked was $20 million - no it wasn't the tallest cake talked of above, it just happened to have diamonds on it!

Forum Features #36 - September: Senses!Once again, the Community Relations team is here to feature the artworks of deviantART's beloved forumers!
Once a month, we select one active member from the forums and we feature his or her gallery. This is someone we believe represents the forums well with both good forum-abilities and art.
As we're kind (and awesome), we also decided to give an opportunity for everybody to get featured! Every month, we create a thread in the Deviation Thumbshare Forum with a particular theme. This thread is made into a sticky for easy access. All you have to do is post thumbs of your artwork that match the theme and, at the end of the month, we select our favorite thumbs from that thread and feature them in the next news article.
The best thing is that being an active member of the forums is the only requirement!

Once upon a time, I was a volunteer, and speaking from experience, it can be a both blessing and a curse.
I believe that many current and former volunteers will agree with that sentiment and I feel it's important to explain a bit about why I believe this to be true.
Maybe you're not aware of the variety of ways people join the volunteer team. As per FAQ #85: Can I be a volunteer on deviantART? many people send in an application to express their interest in joining the team and I go through those applications and s
PE: Site Updates and How to Welcome ThemSite Updates and How to Welcome Them
This article was written due to the recent uproar from some groups of the community because of the new username symbols.
Change is something handled differently by everyone. Some people accustom to change very quickly, others may take a long time or may not adjust to change at all. In regards to deviantART Site Updates, it's important to know ways to welcome change and embrace it. You are not expected to love every feature that is released, but giving it a chance before bashing it is a right step forward.
Before reading on, please note that this article is not directed at any one individual, but as a community as a whole. All views expressed in this article are mine and mine alone and do not reflect the views of deviantART.com.
When a new feature is released, most deviants give their first impressions of said feature. Some may even react like this:

All Snapped Up .14 ~ stefangrosjean~ An interview of a talented artist in our General Photography Community
Tell us a bit about yourself, stefangrosjean! How did you get into photography and why?
I'm a self-taught photographer and I never had any formal training. I started because I wanted to capture beauty.
As you are a self-taught photographer, and you've never had any formal training, how did you get to the stage you are now?
I read tutorials and books and watch videos, but above all I practice and conduct experiments. I'm almost every other day in the studio working on light experiments.
Why are you on deviantART?
Because my viewers are here.
What type of People & Portraits photography do you most like to do and why?
Almost everything I do is in "artistic nude" or "glamour", but I think of my work as "erotic photography". I'm afraid there is no such category on dA which is a shame.
PE: What to ask before launching a projectSo, you want to start a Community Project . . .
Running a Community Project here on deviantART can be a lot of fun . . . and also a lot of work! The rewards can be great, as Projects can make our community better and more fun for everyone. This article strives to clarify some things that you will need to consider before you implement a Community Project. We hope it will help you feel more prepared and therefore will support your success as a Community Project Leader.
Here are some things you should ask yourself:
1. Do I really have the time to take on a project right now?
I'm listing this question first because, in my opinion, it's the most important. Community Projects can take up quite a bit of your time if they are run successfully. Take it from someone who's been there: Don't over-commit yourself! There's nothing more frustrating to you as a leader (and perhaps to others in the community) than getting geared up for a project and

Lilyas has dedicated herself to making our community a brighter place with her vibrant artwork and infectious enthusiasm for interacting with others in our community. It has certainly paid off, as many deviants flock to her page on a daily basis to let her know how much of an inspiration she is. We absolutely agree, and couldn't let all that hard work go without recognition, so it's with great pride that we bestow the Deviousness Award for March 2014, to ... Read More
