Photography Troubleshooting: Winter WildlifeFor many parts of the world, Winter provides a beautiful backdrop for some of the best landscape and water scape Photography out there. Snowy hills, Frosty trees and more help to convert a world of vibrant Summer or Autumn into subdued yet awe-inspiring Winter. But what about the wildlife? Extreme weather conditions can make it more challenging to get out and about with the camera, but can also give you more opportunity to capture those elusive animals.

When I first started investigating Winter Wildlife Photography I thought that I would have to aim for things like Foxes, Deer and other wild and sometimes elusive animals. But actually, wildlife Photography and in particular in the Winter - can start right in the back garden.

As the year crawls into the final quarter - lots of challenges and daily photo tasks and so on begin to conclude. I have personally been challenging myself with the 365 Photography challenge - a photo a day for a whole year. It has been tricky to say the least, especially as I set myself a high standard of capturing more than one Photo a day - but also rewarding. Setting yourself a challenge, whether it's following the 52 week photography challenges that are out there, or doing a themed challenge such as 365 breakfasts - is a great way of expanding on your portfolio. Whilst it sometimes means that you struggle to find anything interesting to photograph or share, on the days that you do, you're one step closer to building another aspect of your portfolio.

I read an article this week that said something along the lines of how every moment is a fresh reality. Every now is a beginning. Every now is a chance to restart. With those thoughts came the declaration that we should learn to photograph in the moment rather than work ourselves up into a frenzy of trying to create moments for ourselves. Ultimately I feel that it's a bit of both. This past week I've spent some time doing professional shoots with babies and used them as my photographs of the day. I've then been surprised and a little dejected when the following day, an opportunity didn't just fall into my hands. Sometimes though, it's good to leave the tripod at home, forget the filters and the flashgun and just shoot with free hands, fingers crossed, hoping for the best. Unless, like me, you are prese

Photography Troubleshooting: Capturing HalloweenHalloween brings with it the chance to combine many areas of Photography whether you are presented with a field of pumpkins, decorated houses, close up spooky food creations or indeed infants and children adorned in the cutest of costumes. In terms of vibrancy, fall/Autumn and Halloween combine wonderfully to create a time of color, emotion and interesting subjects. So it's often difficult to know where to start, but the key elements behind arming yourself with the camera don't differ that much from how you should behave day to day when shooting.

Troubleshooting:How to Photograph Christmas Lights

I recently read an article on Reddit that explored the best way to photography Christmas lights and it raised some interesting points. Rather than re-hash what has already been said, I've delved into a few tutorials around the web to give an overview of some hints and tips - and will link them all at the end of this article so that you can investigate for yourself.

When you take a Photograph, the camera will often over-compensate with the colours that it's trying to capture and objects that look fairly white to the naked eye don't appear so in the photo that you've taken. White Balance aims to override that. But just setting your camera to Auto White Balance and hoping for the best is not good enough...

Stock Photography: Clint ClemensClint Clemens has long been dubbed the Father of modern Automotive Photography. His work is sleek, crisp, smooth and not unlike the subjects he photographs. One of his most famous shots is titled Kills Bugs Fast. The story behind the image is that Porsche trust him only with the slogan and told him that he had to illustrate the idea himself. So he did. Thus landmark commercial stock photography was created.
