Photography Weekly Header created by TouchedD

"No photographer is as good as the simplest camera."
~Edward Steichen

Since getting my first D-SLR, three years ago now, I have never been completely comfortable with the methods I use to transport it. With the camera came a bag, typical camera bag, over the shoulder type. But it's still not quite right. There are a wide range of camera bags out there now. Including one from deviantART - the dA Pro Camera Bag, but nothing has ever been quite what I need. The three common types of carrying a camera bag seem to be across the body, two straps on the back or even a belt. What do you use?

Is it snowing where you are? Check out the snow tutorial that I got to put into practice today - Photography Troubleshooting - Capturing Snow. Much of the UK has been blanketed in the stuff which provides ample opportunity to get creative..!

We want your input on the Photography galleries here on deviantART - whether they are named properly, described properly - whether there needs to be additions or subtractions - we'll take it all on board just drop us a line and let us know your thoughts!

Kendra-Paige has put together a fantastic article focusing on Daily Deviations with some questions/answers and tutorials. Check it out here! Also dekorAdum is still collecting thumbs on specific themes - the latest theme is Long Exposures. Get involved by contributing your Sunsets.

Another issue of To Be Seen is out from 3wyl and once again focuses on under-appreciated dA Photographers!

Spotlight Deviant BokehLight

This week the spotlight deviant was suggested by MarcosRodriguez who says, "He has only been here for 5 months but he has showed a great talent for photography, I specially like his macro shots." There is definitely a surrealistic and almost abstract feel to BokehLight's work as he takes ordinary objects and shows them at a different angle and viewpoint.

Spotlight Group Monotonicity

Monotonicity's tagline is See the world in unicolour and the gallery of the group is full of colour, in fact it's well worth checking out just for the beauty of the layouts. The galleries are divided into colour sections and showcase some beautiful works. Head over now!

Architecture Photography

Community Volunteer AnaNaszynska

This week I stumbled across an amazing example of how trick photography (i.e. manipulation) can completely blow your mind. The article was actually sold to me straight away with the line "Architectural Photography that breaks your brain." The work of Filip Dujardin is just that. His creations are teetering on the edge of believeable, but they're tricks. See for yourself...

Animals, Plants and Nature

Community Volunteer IsacGoulart

justeline is a deviant to check out if you're looking for some incredibly inspiring Nature Photography. She was the Digital Camera Photographer of the year in the Gardens and Plants category with this wonderful piece...

Autumn Interlude by justeline

She also has a book out called Lightscapes which you can find more information about here.

MarinaCoric has put together a beautiful feature this week focusing on art nudes. Check it out here - contains mature content.

Check out the Regular and Subscriber Editions of the Thumbshare and Feedback Threads and share your work!

Don't forget that over at Abstract-and-Surreal the monthly contest is still in full swing. You can participate by checking out the article here. In other groups, there's a new initiative at non-real to get people to start making DD suggestions via the group. Check that out here. And in 4bstr4ct4rt they are promoting a physical exhibition that seeks to inform people about abstraction! More info here.

Macro photography

Community Volunteers 3wyl + Kaz-D

MarcosRodriguez puts together a fantastic Macro feature through devPREMIUM which is well worth checking out! See the full article here! We're also thinking of hosting a macro contest - what are your thoughts on this? Is it something you'd participate in? Finally, over at projecteducate a Macro Photography Feature has been put together!

Photography Resources

This week I started blogging for Lens Fettish - a site that allows you to rent cameras and lens - complete with filters if you wish! The blogs will be focusing a lot on what you see over here, tutorials and so on, but the site is a great resource for reviews and for getting the kit you can't afford to buy. Check it out!

Thank you very much for mentioning WNC's monthly feature.

Btw, I'm using a Lowepro Slingshot [link] and I find it most practicable cause you don't have to take it off every time you want to switch lenses or filters.

Hey, here is my camera bag, it's not a "pro" one but it's perfect for me and I should say it's the only one that fits exactly to what I need so far : [link]
It's not too big and it can carry a standard DSLR cam with at most 3 lenses + some little accessories. It's perfect also on a bicycle and you can turn it easily from back to front and get your camera in the hand quickly or even change lens ...... I really recommend it :D
... and it does exist in several colors : [link] [link]
.. and even it's one of the cheapest I found ;)
For the rest, all great news and links ;)

Oh that's actually really neat! Nice and compact too and I love the shape. The only problem for me is across body bags, I wear them all my life practically and thus now (even at the age of 23) I get incredible neck pain using them just on one shoulder! :(
