"Skill in photography is acquired by practice and not by purchase"
- Percy W. Harris
The other week, a piece of my writing was selected for a Daily Literature Deviation. If you're curious you can see the article here. I was humbled by that, but my reason for mentioning it in Photography Bi-weekly is that 0hgravity then highlighted a website to me that I found absolutely fascinating. It's soul purpose is to highlight Endangered Languages through Photography. 3170 lens are capturing the people who hold the key to the worlds most secret languages. Once again something like this highlights the complete and utter importance of Photography and reminds us of how far we've come, and how much we can do from mobile phone to D-SLR, regardless of costings and equipment - we have the power to capture. It's humbling when you think of it on the scale of Endangered Languages. Check it out, you'll be amazed too.
A couple of 'Show Me' articles have been posted by dekorAdum as part of the thumbshare series he has begun in the forums. One of them focused on long exposures - check out the feature article here. Another edition of Fashion Friday is out! Katy-L-Wood shared a wonderful conceptual exhibition of Photography last week - Stop The Violence is a photography series by Francois Robert in the 90's and...check out the article to find out how he got creative with skeleton bones! Also don't forget to check out 3wyl's latest Article exposing lesser known photographers!
Since it's Winter for much of the world now, or it's heading that way, Photography Troubleshooting this week focuses on capturing Winter Wildlife. If you haven't seen the article already you can read it right here. Don't forget if you have a photography issue, just send me a note and the group will try and answer it!
Another issue of Nom Nom is out, and now I'm taking suggestions from the community as to what food you'd like to see featured each week. You will be featured alongside the food too! So if you have a burning foodie desire, let me know, and I'll take care of it! Check out Macaroons!
The winners for the Seasonal Portraiture contest were announced - congratulations to everyone who participated and especially to those who won! Check out the latest People & Portraits Feature too and the winners right here!
Finally, with a lot of angry words flung about because of stolen DD features, I wrote an article. It didn't quite get the reaction I was aiming for, but the support was immense so thank you. But please do check it out, to abolish some myths about daily deviations - Why you feature stolen work?!

Sarah-BK is the creator of Soft-Stills and here is her reason for doing so..."This is a group I couldn't help making. I've always wanted to have a collection of lovely photographs by others, however time does not permit me to look through all submissions to dA which I may like, and the fair exposure system does not always allow me to either. Hence, this group will be a win-win for both you and me. I will get more exposure to others' photographs of a select category which I mostly enjoy viewing, while you get them featured here for others to see and to get more feedback!" So head over to the group, check out the Art and contribute your own!
dragonfly-oli regularly makes an impact on the Community here on deviantART with features spotlighting articles, daily deviation suggestions and especially with a beautiful gallery. If you haven't already, I thoroughly recommend that she is one to watch!
