April Update ~ We've just hit 4,000 points. That's incredible! Thank you to everyone who has donated, it means a lot. As I've said before, 1pence for each point donated PLUS the points will be split between various groups as well. So it's all going to a great cause. If you can spare anything, please do!
My Grandmother has always loved her garden, her flowers, her sewing and all things beautiful. It's her Birthday today, and I took her the prettiest card I could find, with a huge barrel of flowers and some other bits and pieces. She loved it all. But she's facing a very scary prospect. She could potentially lose the sight in her eyes any day now, due to something called Macular Degeneration. She's on the waiting list for an appointment so that she can get started with some treatment, and we hope that will come through within the next few months, because that's the maximum the Dr says she has before she won't be able to see.
Sight is a very precious thing, if you're reading this, and gazing at the artwork on deviantART, it's because you have your sight. Maybe it's not as good as it could be, maybe it's deteriorated with age, maybe you even have this very same thing that my Grandmother has - but right now, you're seeing. And what a gift it is.
So why am I writing all of this? I'm keen to do something. Not only has it made me treasure my vision even more, but I want to do something with visual things, to try and raise some money for the Macular Society - which by the way, is based in my very town, so it's something close both in heart and in location. I'm selling as many of my prints as I can - and half the price of each sale will be going to the Macular Society. That includes postage too. Please see below for examples of all the things for sale (and remember you can request anything in my gallery too.)
You know you want one! And at a fairly reasonable price too with HALF the proceeds going to charity. All prints are mounted on stiff framed cream card with a matching border around the edge. They are all nicely wrapped in display packages, as you can see in the image, and have a label on the reverse stating the title and further details.

£5.50 plus £1.50 postage worldwide - (free to the UK)

I have many more, this is just selection of stock I have to hand right now. You can always order prints from me and canvas's too! The special offer for this month is buy ONE mounted print and get 20% off another. It's not much of an offer, as offers go, but remember that half of EVERY SALE INCLUDING POSTAGE is going to the Macular Society.
I accept payment in the form of Cheque (UK), Postal Orders or Paypal transfers. Payment must have cleared before stock will be sent out.
If you'd like to make a donation to me via points, I'm keen to replace each point with a penny of my own money - also for the Macular Society! At the end of March I'll total up everything I've made for the society and photograph the cheque (and letter of receipt if they send one) so that you know where your money has gone.

Sometimes when you're not looking...
The best things pop up in your newsfeed. And oh my gosh I've been getting to know my newsfeed again today. Things actually appear in there. I'm ashamed to say that when I was a CV a lot of the time it became a click and delete activity, because there was so much. I lost touch with people, I lost touch with a lot of what I wanted to do and what I was interested in. So with this in mind, I found Farand (https://www.deviantart.com/farand)'s latest journal really poignant as he shared this quote...
"The important point for us is to realise that we are basically good. Our only problem is that sometimes we don't actually acknowledge that goodness. We don't see it, so we blame

This time around, the Tasty Nom has been suggested by cookielover17 (https://www.deviantart.com/cookielover17) who suggested that I put together a feature of Childhood Nostalgia images. It's hard to do because we've all likely had so many different memories across the world, but here are just a few I found when I searched! What are your favourite childhood treats and recipes?

This is where I leave you
I just love dramatic titles. I'm not leaving you though, but yes today is the day that things change after such a long time.
I started my Volunteer career on DeviantArt in July 2010. So that means I've been floating around your inboxes, DDing, writing articles and doing lots of photography related shenanigans for over half a decade. Of course, I started out long before that but offically and all that, it's been over five years.
Half a decade. A Demi-Decade. Five years. I have to say that it has flown by. From the day that I first pestered moonbeam13 (https://www.deviantart.com/moonbeam13) into letting me oversee a gallery that technically wasn't vacant (Abstract and Surreal

I got my pictures Last Week. And they really are as beautiful as they appear above. Thank you so much. Also thank you for the extra surprise. I love it.
