There are always people who catch my eye, and I collect their names and keep an eye on them, because watching people make the most of their talent and fulfill their potential is a wonderful experience. I'm going to share some of the fresh talent I'm currently admiring and amazed by, so that when they're out shooting big campaigns and stories across the world, we can say I told you they were special!"

Over the past few months, we've been diligently working on cleaning up the category tree of old and unused categories. While most of this will go unnoticed by the community, what you will notice is the change from "Miscellaneous" galleries to "Other". The reason for this change is simple. In my opinion, one of the greatest advantages to the New Submission Process, are the thumbnail examples and descriptions that appear when you're selecting a category. It's no secret that we have misplaced deviations throughout the galleries and it's probably the most complained about topic I deal with on a daily basis. My team and I have been working hard to improve the descriptions and thumbnail examples for all of the galleries, and I'm happy

Everyday we're CV'ingAs a Community Volunteer - I do as much or as little within the community that I feel comfortable doing. We're not pressured to do this and that, we don't even have to give a Daily Deviation every day, we choose how we promote our selected galleries/chats and forums and we're not fixed to any specific rule on how much or how little we do. She is truly a face from History and one that many across the globe have tried to capture within others time and time again. But what exactly has made this image and its photographer so captivating?

There's something new in town...

For a long while now, I've been itching to create a group that encompasses the whole of the People & Portraits Photography Gallery. After chatting it through with ^3wyl today, we decided to launch one - and so ~PeopleAndPortraits was born! It's for every single sub-gallery of People and Portraits Photography. Every single one. You'll find a folder for every one of them and you'll find that you can submit not one but TWO works a week to each one. What else are we giving you...well...

Will there be a voting process to keep low quality pictures away? Because if not, the group doesn't make any sense to me. One could just as well browse the People & Portraits Photography gallery.

Of sorts. I mean we'll offer advice and tips to those we think can do better or those shots that don't particularly fit any particular gallery because they were achieved quite simply. However we won't be an elite group about it too much, the idea is to encompass all art - and hopefully make people better where improvements are necessary - which is nearly always the case however professional or not somebody is

However we are going to spotlight strong photographers, give tutorials and help and feature the top quality works in blogs - so there will be a showcase

I see. So you're hoping that people will take the opportunity to get feedback on their best work so they can take their skills to the next level. It's an interesting approach and certainly better than the "declined -- no comment" one tends to get from elite groups, but it'll certainly be a lot of work for the people running the group.

I think if people are prepared to put the work in, it could become a great function of such a group. Agreed, a lot of work - but worth it in the long run!
