Urban Exploration - Or URBEX as it can be more commonly referred as - is the examination of unseen or off limit parts of the urban world. This can involve underground rooms, caves, disused buildings and so on.

The Urban Exploration Gallery here on Deviantart is found under the Urban and Rural Photography Gallery and is currently managed by ScENeYmE

Just like the insights we offer each other into our different countries and traditions by sharing worldwide Photography- Urban Exploration offers something a step further. We gain insight into places we never dreamed existed on many occasions. Places that have long been forgotten that can hold many incredible secrets.

It's important to remember however that some aspects of Urban Exploration are considered illegal - I wont be held responsible for you breaking and entering or being arrested under anti-terrorism laws :paranoid: However there are plenty of places that you can go to without getting yourself into trouble.

Stick with what you know to start with. Approach councils and you never know what you might find. I recently noticed on a forum that somebody managed to get permission to go into a huge storage unit containing...neglected wheelie bins :D

Urban exploration is a very nice activity and in fact you don't need to go very far... You just have to go outside with a camera, see the city with a camera is always a discovery since you try to find the strange, the humorous and unusual :)
It's a good way to re-discover where you live =)

Interesting! So far I only was exploring some old train stations, rails, and one abandoned psychiatric hospital. The last one thing was literally crazy with a lot of weird things inside including some very very old (like from `60 or earlier) photographies of mentally ill people... :fear: I would love to be back there, but I am too scared... :sprint: (just a pity I didnt had decent camera back then...)
