When I hear of Marzipan I think of the little Marzipan fruits that my Mother used to top the trifle with at Christmas - not particularly tasty, but beautiful to look at! On researching for a little random trivia, I've found that this tradition of painting marzipan to look like fruit - originates from Italy. In the Netherlands and Belgium, according to wikipedia...Marzipan figures are given to children on Saint Nicholas Eve. Here on deviantART, they are often found in the galleries of rather awesome culinary arts people.
