I did I waited for months dreaming of getting a DD, then one day I realized that if I wanted something to happen I had to make it happen myself. So I suggested one of my tutorials and I got a DD for it after that I got three more DD suggested by other people.
I think a DD is sadly not always about how good you are, but about how popular you are. Not everyone knows how to suggest a DD, then of those that know few people actually suggest DDs regularly, so it takes a lot of views, watchers and luck to get that first DD. I found that suggesting myself gave me that initial boost of exposure I needed, so I'm glad I did. I think there's nothing wrong with it, you're not featuring yourself, you're merely suggesting yourself for someone else's consideration.
However, I would like to point out, if anyone wants to do suggest their works, it is fine to do so It's just a personal preference for me (like for a few others who commented here).
Once, but it seems like eons ago. I have no need to do it again, but it is sometimes necessary for others to do it. They have to get recognized somehow.
i've always been thankful for the journal features i've gotten, i can't imagine suggesting myself for DD. i can understand why some people would, but i have a problem with some of the DD's picked simply bc of quality; how could i ever suggest my own work when i only have a point and shoot and there's soooo much better, more deserving pieces out there? lol
