As 2012 begins to draw to a close, here is a roundup of the past two months' shenanigans within the General Photography Galleries and a bit of an up-to-date news to get you kept in the loop!

Facebook has today changed its Terms of Service to allow Instagram to use your photographs pretty much for whatever it wants, whether that's advertising to sell or more. It's important that you, on an individual level, decide whether this is something that you want to have your work involved with or whether you stop using the service and move on to something else with a much more fairer Terms of Service. Regardless, be aware that things have changed. You can read more about that here. There are rumours that the TOS has now been changed again- but they are unconfirmed.

Over the past few months, we've shared lots of Photography bits and pieces with you. Hopefully things that will prove useful in terms of troubleshooting and in terms of getting inspiration. There are also LOTS of contests going on as it's that festive time of year. Check out the links below to find out what you can participate in!

Additionally, there have been a few articles on the topic of Daily Deviations. It's all about Presentation gives some hints and tips on how to present your work here on deviantART. Everyday we're CV'ing let's you know about what we do as Community Volunteers. Photography: Your Thoughts asks for your views on what you'd like to see from the General Photography CVs and, finally, Why you feature stolen work?!?! explains exactly what it says in the title!

ArtHistoryProject is coming to the Photography Galleries in January and we're calling for all keen history enthusiasts to get writing and put some articles together. Head over to the group and send a note with your proposal if you're interested!

Contests

Photography Troubleshooting

People & Portraits

We have a People and Portraiture Photography Hub at PeopleAndPortraits! Our first contest Seasonal Portraiture went down well and has been judged with the winners announced. If you are curious to see who won check out the results. The group will continue ticking over, with the announcement of monthly prompts and themes beginning in January. DropxLife has founded a new group dedicated entirely to Black and White Portraiture. Head over to BWPortraiture to browse existing works and even submit your own. Also check out Monochrome Eyes III for some beautiful black and white features.

Still Life Photography

We've been busy in the Still Life Photography Galleries rounding up contests and announcing new ones. Our October challenge winners of the Orange Contest can be found here. We also had delightfully tasty entries to the Chocolate and Apple Cake Recipe Challenge. December sees us with a new festive themed challenge and a recipe prompt for Spicy Apple Cake.
