"Skill in photography is acquired by practice and not by purchase"
- Percy W. Harris
The other week, a piece of my writing was selected for a Daily Literature Deviation. If you're curious you can see the article here. I was humbled by that, but my reason for mentioning it in Photography Bi-weekly is that 0hgravity then highlighted a website to me that I found absolutely fascinating. It's soul purpose is to highlight Endangered Languages through Photography. 3170 lens are capturing the people who hold the key to the worlds most secret languages. Once again something like this highlights the complete and utter importance of Photography and reminds us of how far we've come, and how much we can do from mobile phone to D-SLR, regardless of costings and equipment - we have the power to capture. It's humbling when you think of it on the scale of Endangered Languages. Check it out, you'll be amazed too.

Finally, with a lot of angry words flung about because of stolen DD features, I wrote an article. It didn't quite get the reaction I was aiming for, but the support was immense so thank you. But please do check it out, to abolish some myths about daily deviations - Why you feature stolen work?!

Spotlight Group
Sarah-BK is the creator of Soft-Stills and here is her reason for doing so..."This is a group I couldn't help making. I've always wanted to have a collection of lovely photographs by others, however time does not permit me to look through all submissions to dA which I may like, and the fair exposure system does not always allow me to either. Hence, this group will be a win-win for both you and me. I will get more exposure to others' photographs of a select category which I mostly enjoy viewing, while you get them featured here for others to see and to get more feedback!" So head over to the group, check out the Art and contribute your own!
Spotlight Deviant

Community Volunteer arctoa
arctoa has put together a road map guiding you along the path of what he'll be doing as part of his time on the CV team. You can check it out here and find out what features, interviews and other delights he's planning and also offer your feedback. He's also got stuck in with the forums and started a thumbshare for Photography and in particular Abstract and Surreal. Many people have been confused over arctoa's Daily Deviation choices within the Abstract Photography Community - it only proves to show that many don't understand the true definition of Abstract. Here's an article from Arctoa that goes into it a little bit more and answers some of the common queries on Daily Deviations. Saturday Spotlight is also out and you can check it out right here!
