Project Educate: An Interview with Julie-de-Waroquier
Julie is an inspiring artist based in France with a beautiful gallery full of the most intricate and unique conceptual photographs that I have stumbled across so far. The inspiration and talent never ceases to amaze me each time I visit.
1) If you could bring one deceased legendary artist back to the current time, who would it be and why them?
It would be Tchaikovsky, because his music inspires me a lot.
2) Who or what inspired you to take on the art form that you focus in?
First, the books and fairy tales I used to read when I was a child. Also, many artists here on deviantART inspired me, such as Lara Jade!
3) We all have bad days – when we believe that our work is not good enough, what would you suggest is the best way to overcome these and keep creating?
It depends. Sometimes I just stop forcing myself and I wait until confidence and inspiration come back. Sometimes I look at other people's art, to feel inspired. And sometimes, I take my camera, and I walk until I find a nice and new place to take some pictures again!
5) You have been selected to go on all expense paid holiday for three days with historical figures, an artist, a writer and one free choice. Who would you take?
I would take Magritte, Rimbaud and Rabelais!
6) What is your biggest challenge personally in creating your work?
More and more, I find it difficult to create something that I like. Sometimes I feel like people expect me to create a specific kind of pictures, and I'm afraid to create something new, something that people wouldn't like, but that I would personally enjoy.
8) When are you most creative and why? Time of day/week/season e.t.c
Actually... I'm most creative when I'm supposed to be working. My mind escapes hard work and creates new pictures instead!
I also enjoy creating pictures in the morning and during the evening, because of the beautiful lightnings.
9) Are you professionally trained in art – have you been to college or Uni to study it?
No, I'm self-taught!
10) Finally, Describe an insecurity you deal with in making art.
Everyday I'm afraid that nobody will like my art!
